The Megaron was located at the port (so easy to find), within short walking distance of the Venetian Port, Heraklion Archaeological Museum, and the center of town with all the shops and restaurants, as well as self-serve laundry. The place itself is huge, with a cafe and restaurant, a nice rooftop pool, a gym, and free parking! The rooms are a great size, with comfy beds and showers outfitted with Korres bath products, slippers, and robes. The staff is excellent, especially housekeeping (they even have a turn-down service), a very attentive breakfast team, and a friendly and helpful reception. Special thing to note—we were concerned about the Hertz sticker plastered so prominently all over the car (which we thought just screamed 'tourist'), but when the hotel staff saw it had a flat tire, they went out of their way to call Hertz to ask who had rented it so they could cross-reference it to us at the hotel. Major issue averted, as Hertz came over within minutes to fix the flat! We are so grateful for Megaron's fantastic staff!

Best feature of the hotel was Effi at the reception (and a spectacular breakfast). 5 star woman all around. Any question, problem, request she handled very well and fast. Go Effi ! Greek hospitality at its best. Any 5 star hotel would be proud to have someone like her command the reception experience. While photos are friendly to the location (busy street in front between ocean and hotel) good walking distance to town, great roof top restaurant, friendly staff, nice rooms (we got upgraded for free, thanks Effi) and beautiful port views. What truly stands out is the breakfast. The variety of dishes, daily changes and presentation was great. Anyone who prepares food knows that the hotel puts a LOT of effort in the breakfast 6 stars on a 5 star scale. In my view the breakfeast alone is worth a visit. And Effi, of course.

This hotel is the closest to the port and the central bus station and is not far from other attractions. Unfortunately we only booked one night as we were leaving on a ferry to another island the next day. We arrived by bus from Chania and it was a very easy walk from the bus station to the hotel with luggage. Words cannot describe the amount and variety of food available for breakfast the next morning. And we had to leave before the hot dishes were served at 7 am but we still had ample food to choose from. Our room was spacious and the shower was luxurious with ample water pressure. We didn’t even have time to visit the gym or pool. The next morning we walked with luggage to the port to fast ferry to another island. But wished we had booked at least two nights at this place. So much more to see and do in Heraklion.

This was the nicest hotel on our trip to Greece! It was absolutely stunning and exceeded our expectations! We looked at other hotels in Heraklion while we were there and would not stay anywhere else. It is walking distance to the main tourist area of Heraklion, the harbour area where we were dropped off by ferry and also the bus station to travel around the island. The city buses are right outside as well. The breakfast buffet was spectacular and included in the rate. It was the most extensive buffet we have had at a hotel and the food was so delicious! Roof top lunch was great too with stunning views. This hotel was perfect in every way! Highly recommend Knossos Palace ruins while in Heraklion.

Great location with lots of sites and shopping nearby, and directly across from the port. The breakfast buffet was beyond amazing —a great variety of pastries, egg dishes, and traditional Greek items, and everything was excellent. The restaurant was quite good for dinner, with the best moussaka I’ve had. The room was very nice, and the bed was comfortable. The place has a real sense of luxury. This was a great place to stay for our night after a 24-hour journey to get to Heraklion. It was well worth it. Glad we were able to book it.
